What if my spouse moves away?

Often following divorce - and sometimes even while the divorce is in process - the custodial parent will move away with the children. If you are concerned that your spouse will move away, you should contact a child custody attorney for advice as soon as possible.

While we can file a motion to prevent your spouse from moving away, the resolution will probably depend on how much time you spend with your children today. The more time you spend with your children today, the more likely it is that your attorney can protect your right to be with your children in the future. Once one party has moved, however, a status quo is created that is hard to overcome.
